Weeknights can get a little bananas for most of us, so one of the best habits to help you stick to a healthy eating plan is meal prep. I know, you may be thinking that sounds like way to much work, but actually it will save you SO much time, money, and make your weekend much more sane. Basically, you are putting in a bit more effort now to let yourself be lazy later when you really need it!
Check out my favorite Instagram accounts to follow for incredible meal prep ideas you will be dying to try!
@peanutbutterandfitness: I love looking each week at Erin’s meal prep posts. There is something that is so appealing about getting to see what someone eats each week, right? And Erin not only posts on Instagram, but she has an awesome blog where she shares many of the meal prep recipes you will see her post in her pictures.
@foodprepprincess: Not only does Erin post awesome meal prep spreads similar to the other accounts, but she also posts great grocery haul pics like this one. I find these especially useful when you are starting a healthy eating plan to figure out what you should be buying at the store.
@lady.lolas: I love her posts because I feel like they are a bit lower maintenance and great ideas to start with. For example, she uses a lot of convenient snacks like yogurt cups, whole fruit and protein bars. Plus, she shows how you can prep bulk veggies like these bell peppers to eat all week. In many ways, easier meal prep ideas can mean you are more likely to stick to it, so I like her posts.
@caligirlgetsfit: I love her posts because she includes calories and macros with them. While I am not a proponent of counting all your calories every day, I think it is super helpful to put things in perspective and start to get an idea of roughly what 1800 calories looks like for instance. She also has some great posts to teach you how to eat healthier like food substitute ideas.
@justget.fit: All of this meal prep above can be done in just 80 minutes! It will save you so much time during the week and keep you on track with you healthy eating plan. What I also like about Nikki’s account is that she posts her before & after photos where she actually gained pounds, but looks slimmer and more toned because she works out and eats right. It sends a good message that healthier does not have to mean skinnier.
@fitfundaniya: This next post of meal prep ideas is great because it shows you a snapshot of what someone eats in a day. Keep in mind that this post is for a 2,000 calories per day plan, so you would need to adjust based on your goals.
@confessionofadietitian: I love how this meal prep shows a different approach. Instead of prepping and plating every single meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can prepare all the components to be able to do so quickly during the week. You can cook up some proteins like chicken burgers and salmon, some sides like roasted sweet potatoes and brussels sprouts and then prep all your fruits and veggies for quick & easy snacks. This is the approach I typically take when I meal prep.
@hannah.banana89: For all you vegans out there, this is an awesome Instagram to follow for vegan meal prep ideas. Even non-vegan eaters like me should check it out because her meal ideas are great. Also, as a reminder, make sure you check out the captions of all these posts on Instagram to get even more details.
@fitness.woohoo: She does an awesome job of breaking down each post with portions and calories in her post, which can be really helpful for beginners. I also like that her meals seem very doable and easy to recreate for a more novice cook.
@fitchickscook: I love her beautiful meal prep layouts and think they are especially good for someone trying to cut calories and lose weight. Her meals are very simple and easy to recreate too.
@ljadeparker: Her account is one of my latest discoveries and new favorites for meal prep ideas! Her meal ideas are simple but appealing to me and her body will make you buy into what she is doing. She often uses recipes from other clean eating accounts that she tags so she will also help you discover new recipe ideas.
@goodful: Watch this video to buy into just how easy it can be to make a week’s worth of lunches in just minutes. Don’t they look way better than those frozen meals you’ve been eating? Check out their Instagram for tons more clean eating recipe ideas that you can use when meal prepping.
@fit_pham: I highly recommend this Instagram account! She has awesome posts for vegetarian meal planning, but also super informative ones about picking a good protein bar or plant based protein ideas. Make sure to check it out.
@fitwomeneat: This is another must-follow Instagram account for meal prep ideas. She has amazing content, videos, and a blog that has tons more details on each post. It was hard for me to pick just one post of hers to feature.
@nicoleosinga_rd: Check out how a dietitian meal preps and follow this amazing Instagram account! This is my favorite new account – all her food looks delicious. Sheesh! Writing this post sure is making me hungry.
@meowmeix: Now, last but not least, we have one of the OG Instagram accounts for meal prep ideas. She truly has it all: fitness posts, grocery hauls, one-day meal snapshots, weekly meal prep, fast food swaps…everything! Don’t miss it.
