Since I started working from home, I have gotten into podcasts to keep me entertained and I LOVE them. I regret that I didn’t get into them sooner when I used to commute in LA traffic. So if you have a long commute, they are a must! Like TV shows, there are different podcasts for different moods, so here are five of the podcasts I listen to for pure entertainment (I shy away from “guilty pleasure” terminology because I have no shame in enjoying them):
1. The Lady Gang
The Lady Gang is the trio of Becca Tobin, former Glee star, Jac Vanek, clothing designer, and Keltie Knight, entertainment journalist. They are unapologetic, unfiltered, and downright hilarious together. On any given podcast they will likely talk about sex, poop, working out, celebrity run ins, and instagram. Not necessarily in that order.
One of my favorite parts of the episodes is their “Good Week/Bad Week” segment where they run through the best and most embarrassing moments of their week. Each week, they also feature guests like Ashley Tisdale, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Sophia Amoruso, and Bravo-lebritys like Dina Manzo and Jenni Pulos. Subscribe on iTunes today.
2. 2 Dope Queens
This is one of the most popular new podcasts and for good reason! Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams host the show twice a month from Union Hall in Brooklyn. Jessica Williams is a former Daily Show correspondent and Phoebe Robinson is a popular NY stand-up comedian, so each hilarious in their own right, but just so much better together! These two are the next big female comedy duo on the scene, so don’t miss out! I hesitate to even try to articulate how hilarious they are because I just won’t do it justice. Go listen. 3. Heather DuBrow’s World
You can never get enough Real Housewives, right? Heather DuBrow from Real Housewives of Orange County aka “fancy pants” hosts a great podcast where she fills you in on whats going on in her life and the latest trends in health, wellness, and beauty. She even used to do a segment where she did a breakdown of the latest episode of RHOC but not anymore, which is a real bummer. I am not sure why, but I’m guessing someone threatened to sue somebody.
She absolutely has her token Heather moments talking about “limo champs” or her over-the-top OC mansion, but c’mon thats what we love about her! She tells a great story, features awesome guests like Alli Webb (founder of DryBar) and Jaclyn Hill (no explanation needed), and everything you’d expect from the classiest Bravo housewife. Subscribe on iTunes.
4. Straight Up with Stassi
Continuing on with my Bravo theme, my third favorite podcast is Straight Up with Stassi. I feel like this goes without saying since you probably don’t know any other Stassi’s, but she is the brutally honest star of Vanderpump Rules. Some people may disagree, but I love her for her unfiltered opinions and you see (or I guess I should say hear?) a much more real side of her on the podcast.
Stassi is newly single which she constantly jokes about, and she chronicles her “year of yes” and dating life on the podcast. PLUS you get the behind the scenes info on Vanderpump Rules. The podcast has a very stream of consciousness, chatting with your girlfriends vibe to it and does not take itself too seriously. Subscribe on iTunes.
5. Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald
You may know Heather McDonald from Chelsey Lately or her brief appearances on Flipping Out or Real Housewives of OC. Ya know, I am beginning to realize that Andy Cohen is the new Kevin Bacon. Anyways, like the title says, Heather specializes in all things juicy and controversial. She has no shame in self promoting and name dropping and she will ask all the questions you wish someone would but typically won’t because they don’t want to offend them…plus her impressions are spot on. Subscribe on iTunes.
Hope you check these out and let me know what you think. Let me know what podcasts you recommend or if you want to hear recommendations for other podcasts I listen to that are at least six degrees separated from Andy Cohen.
