I love watching Youtube Makeup Channels for tutorials and to discover their favorite products! However, it was always hard to remember who liked what product and try to come up with a clear verdict on which products I should try.
Also, while I do invest in higher end products for some items, I love to save money where I can without sacrificing. So I love it when I can find drugstore makeup products that do a great job, but are more affordable.
So, I am SO excited to share with you the dream post I always wanted: the ultimate roundup of the favorite drugstore makeup products from top YouTubers!
How I came up with the list:
I scoured the drugstore makeup videos of top YouTube makeup channels (all with over a million subscribers): Jaclyn Hill, Lauren Curtis, Kandee Johnson, Nicole Guerriero, KathleenLights, Tati, Eleventh Gorgeous, Makeup Geek, and Laura Lee. I then compiled lists of all their favorites to see which drugstore makeup products were recommended by multiple YouTubers to determine the winners! I am talking a full blown excel spreadsheet – I’m a nerd, I know.
So, drumroll please….
Here are the favorite drugstore makeup products of your favorite YouTubers:
1. Primer: L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer
This primer is Jaclyn Hill‘s all time favorite. She points out that it is compact so perfect for travel and has a great neutral tone that adds great luminosity. Therefore, its great for all skin types. She likes to mix a bit with her foundation to impact that dewy finish.
2. Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible or L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion
They were more split on which foundation was their favorite, but L’Oreal was definitely the majority’s favorite brand.
Lauren Curtis‘ ride or die foundation used to be L’Oreal True Match, but she has a new favorite: L’Oreal Infallible 24 hr foundation. She raves about the smoothing effect it has on her skin.
The L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion is a new version of the pervious True Match Lumi, which so many raved about. Tati notes that it is a fuller coverage than the previous version, which Jaclyn states she prefers.
3. Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Five of the top YouTubers looked at chose this concealer as a favorite drugstore product–a clear winner! Kathleen states that there was “no competition” in her mind because this is her absolute favorite concealer. She adds that it has great coverage without looking cakey which is key.
4. Blush: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
Another clear winner, Lauren Curtis can’t get enough of this blush. She loves that it is easy to apply with a gorgeous glowing, smooth finish.
5. Bronzer: Physicians Formula Bronze Booster or Butter Bronzer
Physicians Formula Bronzers is the best drugstore brand for bronzers according to Kathleen. She finds them “so creamy, so blendable, so buttery” and says they don’t get patchy. She adds that the main difference between the Bronze Booster and Butter Bronzer (phew! thats a tongue twister) is that the Bronze Booster is warmer while the Butter bronzer is more neutral.
6. Lashes: Ardell Wispies
There are all different versions (Glamour, Demi, etc.) of Ardell Wispies and each YouTuber had their preference on type, but they all agree that Ardell Wispies brand is the way to go! Kandee loves that they are natural looking to the point that people won’t know you have false lashes on. Nicole adds that they are great for beginners.
7. Eyeliner: NYX Matte Liquid Liner or Maybelline Gel Liner
Jaclyn raves that she cannot live without Maybelline Gel Liner and would choose it over any high end alternative. She loves that it doesn’t clump up, isn’t too oily, and has a deep black pigment.
Kandee loves the NYX Liquid Liner because it is matte and not shiny like a lot of the other products she has tried. She feels like it is a drugstore makeup dupe that is comparable to eyeliners from more expensive brands.
8. Eyeshadows: L’Oreal Infallible and Maybelline Color Tattoo
These both were clear favorites among many of the YouTubers. All agree that the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows have incredible pigment and Jaclyn describes them as luxurious and buttery. Favorite colors include Amber Rush (I always almost type Amber Rose whoops!) and Golden Emerald.
Makeup Geek loves the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows for a great creamy, pigmented eyeshadow. She uses the color Audacious Asphalt for a quick & easy smokey eye.
9. Mascara: L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black or Cover Girl Super Sizer
The L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara is a well-known favorite among YouTubers. Makeup Geek loves the deep black pigment and its thickening effect.
Lauren Curtis opts for the Cover Girl Super Sizer Mascara because it is great at lengthening and separating.
10. Lipsticks/Glosses: NYX Butter Glosses and Revlon Lipsticks
Nicole loves that the NYX Butter Glosses have a great pigment without being sticky or having an overpowering scent. Her favorite color is Super Natural. I also found this great blog article featuring visuals of all the colors, which is great.
For lipsticks, Nicole loves Revlon lipsticks. She thinks they have the best drugstore version of matte colors and loves Pink Pouts, Primrose, and Smoked Peach.
11. Powder: RCMA No Color Powder
This is technically not a drugstore powder but it is definitely a drugstore price, so I think it qualifies! You can get it for around $10 for a big jar that lasts a long time.
Kathleen and Jaclyn love this RCMA No Color Powder, even more than high end options. They say it especially good if you are prone to dry skin and works on any skin tone. Jaclyn actually applies it with a very lightly damp Beauty Blender.
